Paul is one of those annoying mundanes that asks all those questions that rip apart your suspension of disbelief. One of these questions is why don’t they just shoot them, or in this case use plasma cannons.
The answer, in this case, is because heroes barely escaped destruction by getting a lucky shot in, causing the bad guys to retreat. Not that Paul would notice this.
Downeast Mysteries is a popular mystery show, that Nancy enjoys. She hasn’t invited Paul to another binge-watch since season 2.
