I don’t have much patience for over the top political correctness. But, because of a lot of gun violence in the news and watching too many westerns I’ve been thinking a lot about the phrase “ride shotgun”. Obviously the phrase comes from the guy sitting next to the teamster with the gun just in case trouble happens. While I wouldn’t dream of policing anyone’s language at the same time I think that’s one should be aware of what casual phrases mean… especially when the original concept is mostly obsolete.
If a better, unforced, phrase comes into being I’ll be the first one to promote it.
Getting back to the story the Band should really start checking for drummers before they lock the van.
