So this was the plan.

In the past, Kate would get inspired and end up spending all of her free time writing. This was something Stefan found very frustrating. Just taking her laptop away wouldn’t help, since as long as she’s inspired, she could write on anything. Therefore, it stands to reason that the best way to keep Kate from turning every vacation into a 24-hour work retreat was to keep her occupied.

Therefore, Hilda and Stefan packed the itinerary with every activity on the peninsula they could find to tire her out.

Of course, this means that the nights would be less entertaining. But it’s a risk everyone is willing to take.
