Nancy’s status as a wildcard according to the Department of Minor Nuisances remains up in the air. At the moment she likes the status quo as it is. But even when things stay the way they are, and she stops by the loft occasionally she has an impact on the Circle Band. Gage is terrified of her and even Fedya respects her. (though in that case, he may be humoring her)

The DMN has no problem with this, but they want things to go better. They’re hoping Nancy joins up as Michelle’s financial officer because this means there will be more ways Nancy can aggravate the band. She won’t just be Michelle’s unpleasant friend who occasionally stops by, she’ll be management. Also, by being officially part of management, according to celestial red tape, she’s technically part of the band now. With the band technically being bigger, this means the nuisance factor is spread farther, which means the DMN can clear the paperwork faster.
