Shilo doesn’t like to talk about his past, especially to his kids for fear of setting a bad example. If he mentions it at all he describes it as “walking the earth” to the kids. Regrettably, this only makes it sound cool.

I admit it this is more than a bit of a shout-out to the end of Pulp Fiction. Though, Nancy mentions the other thing it’s a shout-out to.
