Well that’s it for another year. I have to say this year went by like a blur to me without much really sticking out in great detail. Today was mostly spent trying to find more things to draw while trying to keep the paper dry.

I decided to put these in their own entry separate from the rest of Folklife pictures because they seemed to stand on their own quite nicely. I tried sketching the Drum Circle with mixed results on one side the organic quality of it gave me lots of ideas for future works of art but because everyone was moving around I might as well have just made stuff up. I tried it again today and just really got into it. It felt as if I was improvising as much as the drummers and the dancers were and it was all I could do to keep up… but in a good way..

Well another day of Folklife has come and went and was perfectly enjoyable. There really weren’t many memorable acts. I’m beginning to wonder if its a case of me obsessing about the sketching so much I didn’t really care.

Well other than another slightly late start getting out the door. This was another good day at folklife. As far as the sketching was concerned it took me a while to get into my game and perhaps because I was obsessing about that a little too much I didn’t see quite as many acts as I would have liked.
But other than that I think i finally managed to get my pace together and made up for lost time as the day went on.

I got a relitively late start for the first day of this year’s Folklife. Firstly because I was running a little late finishing my week’s quota and also the ongoing construction on Mercer blocked my traditional route under Aurora Ave forcing me to double back a quarter of a mile in order to get to the Seattle Center.
All in all a good start. Friday always has the least going on so there’s no need to hurry to get there and once you do get there there is plenty of time to relax and get your bearings.
As for the sketching it was all a bit of a mixed several of them I thought turned out pretty well while others of them… didn’t. But I think I’m getting myself warmed up and there will be lots more to draw tomorrow.
