So I took my first crack at doing a guest comic. I haven’t done any for the same reason I try not to do fan art, because it distracts from all of the stuff you’re supposed to be doing with the day. But every body says it’s a great way to get hits so I figured I’d give it a shot with the right opportunity. So when the brilliant Danielle Corsetto of Girls With Slingshots put out a call for Halloween themed strips I decided to give it a try. Regrettably I didn’t make the cut but I’m not bitter at all. Those who did totally kicked my ass!
Today’s Rhapsody is Alan Hovhaness‘ third Armenian Rhapsody, Fantastic Waltz, for two pianos
Recently one of my regular Sunday afternoon activities has been to bike down the Burke-Gilman Trail and check out the Markets in Fremont and Ballard.
I’m finding myself enjoying the Ballard Farmer’s Market the most. I like all of the Farmer’s Markets in Seattle but set in the middle of historic old Ballard this one feels like traditional market day in a european town. (something they make a point of putting in their advertising) It is a fantastic place to go people watching.
Based on that it is almost embarrassing that it only occurred to me to bring my sketchbook there for the first time last week.
In today’s Rhapsody we finish off Hugo Alfven‘s selection of Swedish Rhapsodies with his third, the Andante (Dalecarlian rhapsody) Op.47. I rather like this one the beginning has a nice slow almost subliminal quality that reminds me very much of Wagner‘s overture to Das Rheingold.
Feel free to go back and enjoy the Midsummer Rhapsody and the Uppsala Rhapsody
