Well we did his first Romanian Rhapsody earlier this September here is George Enescu‘s Second Romanian Rhapsody in d major opus 11
Today’s sketch is from the Seattle Asian Art Museum’s collection of Chinese Sculpture. This one is a Lokapala. Specifically the Guardian king of the west.
Okay, I confess! I’ve been dragged into the herd! Much to my surprise I did something I never thought I’d do (Especially after seeing some of the earlier animated commercials for it back int the day) Enjoy My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! With any luck this is just a passing phase but one can’t help worrying… Today I caught myself doing a preliminary sketch for some… Fanart! (shudder)
But to the point one of the best part of these cartoons (after the fun characters, scripts and plots) are the very well done musical numbers. The one that I’m sharing is from episode 14 Suited for Success and is called “Art of the Dress”. It’s loosely based on “Putting it Together” from Stephen Sondheim‘s Sunday in the Park with George. I find myself liking it more and more mainly because as a creative professional I’ve had gigs like the one Rarity is enduring before… and clients.
Today we go back to Claude Debussy, with his Rhapsody for alto saxophone and orchestra
Just going through some of the older stuff and decided to go with another sample from the Seattle Art Museum’s African mask collection. As I’ve mentioned before, I realll like the way they’ve been displaying these masks in context and I like the angle of the figure on this sketch.
The mask itself is Nigerian from the Chukwu Okoro, Mgbom village in 1960. It’s done in the Mkpere made of wood with a raffia backing.
