Today’s sketch is another sample of the Seattle Asian Art Museum’s collection of Chinese sculpture. This one being a Dvarapala, or Gate Guardian, usually placed on the sides of a Buddhist alter as an attendant to the Guanyin.

Okay, I confess! I’ve been dragged into the herd! Much to my surprise I did something I never thought I’d do (Especially after seeing some of the earlier animated commercials for it back int the day) Enjoy My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! With any luck this is just a passing phase but one can’t help worrying… Today I caught myself doing a preliminary sketch for some… Fanart! (shudder)
But to the point one of the best part of these cartoons (after the fun characters, scripts and plots) are the very well done musical numbers. The one that I’m sharing is from episode 14 Suited for Success and is called “Art of the Dress”. It’s loosely based on “Putting it Together” from Stephen Sondheim‘s Sunday in the Park with George. I find myself liking it more and more mainly because as a creative professional I’ve had gigs like the one Rarity is enduring before… and clients.
