For this week’s rhapsody, we have a relatively new one, the Edel Rhapsody by Stephen Caudel.
I don’t think I’d even heard of the Wagner tuba before listening to this one. It sounds almost like a brass bassoon!
It’s been a while since I did Tuesday Rhapsodies. I freely admit that it was because I was scraping the barrel and was having trouble finding new ones. Just by sheer luck, I found that since my last search, Wikipedia had started a new list along with the main article. In the process, I found two new ones!
The first was Taras Bulba by Czech composer Leoš Janá?ek. If I ever heard of it before, I probably got it mixed up with one of the villains in Darkwing Duck.
Anyway, here it is performed by the Czech Philharmonic conducted by Sir Charles Mackerras.
