Paul and Shilo have been good friends since the beginning. Snarkiness is allowed, even in front of family. We know that Nancy was giving Dana some tips during the picnic. Presumably, it happened here.
As Nancy points out, retreating to the kitchen may be cliche but it’s nice to have it as an option. Besides, it gives you easier access to the booze.

It’s hard to tear yourself from a game, even though it’s time for Thanksgiving Dinner. That’s right. I did a Red Wedding reference in a Thanksgiving storyline.
Paul and Nancy’s relationship is coming along nicely. So, Paul shouldn’t be so surprised Nancy had a lovely time at a party.
