Carole Lombard, the grand dame of Hollywood, is best known for her brilliant career as a comic actress, most notably through her ongoing partnership with Zeppo Marx. However, as her career continued she began to diversify her roles. Her collaborations with Alfred Hitchcock are especially well known. By the time of her death in 1972, she was known for several over the top villain roles. (Amy’s favorite is her playing the wicked witch of the west in the 1971 remake of the Wizard of Oz)
