Laurel couldn’t believe the day was finally over. She couldn’t believe that the day had only been the orientation. She didn’t want to imagine what the rest of the weekend would be like, and it annoyed her that she didn’t have to since the binder in front of her itemized everything in great detail. But at least she survived. She didn’t understand most of it and what little she understood overwhelmed her. She had a bad feeling that she would be up the rest of the evening looking things up to make heads of tails out of things.

It was probably just as well. She had a bad feeling that she wouldn’t be able to get any sleep at all. Ever since talking with Brian earlier, she had felt as if she had drunk too much coffee, and she didn’t want to know why.
