Having Conal take a red eye across the Pacific was the only thing I could think of to guerentee he and Conal would be up early enough for the rest of the plot to work.
As for how Brian knew when Conal was trying to keep it a secret so he’d have a day or two to recover from jet lag? Let’s put it this way. Brian’s very very clueless… except when he’s not.
