Who Has The Ring?
When I was first figuring out this scene I just assumed that Mr. Fluffybear just lost the ring. Of course, that would involve hilarity ensuing and requiring this storyline to be much longer than planned.
It made more sense for Mr. Large Hideous Bull Creature to know his friend well enough to take precautions.
