I was inspired by the wonderful Lois McMaster Bujold’s The Mountains of Mourning for this one. She points out the futility of chasing a horse and how it’s better to outsmart them. I’m sure this applies to dogs just as well.
After I finished this, I was very tempted to have Michelle and Nancy get a hyperactive dachshund as a friend for Mitzi. Regrettably, I know exactly who I’d be plagiarizing if I did that.
